Angus Warriors were a group of teenagers that received treatment for cancer at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. Angus, their inspiration for participating in projects to help other children suffering from the same dreadful disease, contacted me to help facilitate a mural project at the entrance of the Bone Marrow Transplant Ward. He himself was receiving treatment for leukaemia and felt that the place needed some brightening up, so I helped out. This was by far the most rewarding public art intervention I ever participated in! Every one of them helped me paint the massive mural “paint by numbers style” and left their very own butterfly on the wall as a signature at the end of the project.
